SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities

SDG 10 ’Reduce inequality within and among countries’ focuses on social, economic and political inclusion for all, structures perpetuating inequalities, and inequalities at all levels, including between countries.

In the updated NDC submissions, 1% of activities addressed Goal 10 compared with 0% in the first NDC submissions. In the first NDCs, countries were prioritising targets '10.2 Promote social, economic and political inclusion of all' (32%) and '10.4 Adopt social protection policies and promote equality' (28%), linking these to 'Inclusive policies' (38%), 'Inequality reduction' (35%) and 'Inclusion of low income and vulnerable groups' (15%) as key strategies for climate action. In the updated NDCs, countries are prioritising targets '10.2 Promote social, economic and political inclusion of all' (48%) and '10.4 Adopt social protection policies and promote equality' (20%), linking these to 'Inclusion of low income and vulnerable groups' (37%) 'Inclusive policies' (29%) and 'Inequality reduction' (17%) as key strategies for climate action.

Regarding first NDC submissions, activities related to this Goal are prioritising adaptation with 37% of the activities, while 9% focus on mitigation. Meanwhile, for updated NDC submissions 57% prioritise adaptation and 57% mitigation. The share of quantified activities has increased from 0% in the first NDCs to 3% in the updated NDC submissions.
