Madagascar

The first NDC submission of Madagascar contributes the most to SDG 15 'Life on Land' (19%) and SDG 7 'Affordable and Clean Energy' (17%). For SDG 15 some of the highest contributions relate to Target '15.2 Promote sustainable forest management and expansion and halt deforestation' (50%) and Target '15.1 Conserve, restore and sustainbly use inland freshwater ecosystems' (14%). Here, some of the main climate actions are related to 'Conservation, restoration and rehabilitation of ecosystems' (23%) and 'Biodiversity protection' (15%). For SDG 7 the highest contributions relate to Target '7.1 Access to affordable, reliable and modern energy for all' (38%) and Target '7.2 Increase share of renewable energy' (38%). Here, some of the main climate actions are related to 'Access to energy' (17%) and 'Energy efficiency' (17%).

The updated NDC submission of Madagascar contributes the most to SDG 13 'Climate Action' (26%) and SDG 12 'Responsible Consumption and Production' (19%). For SDG 13 the highest contributions relate to Target '13.3 Improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change issues' (61%) and Target '13.1 Strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related and natural disasters' (33%). Here, the main climate actions are related to 'Adaptive capacity enhancement' (19%) and 'Monitoring and tracking of climate change' (19%). For SDG 12 the highest contributions relate to Target '12.4 Reduce release of waste and chemicals' (31%) and Target '12.5 Reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse' (31%). Here, the main climate actions are related to 'Waste management' (33%) and 'Sustainable lifestyles' (17%).
